Overview

The Everest region is one of the most well-known and popular trekking destinations in the world, home to Everest, the highest mountain of the world (8848m). This region is in the eastern part of Nepal in the Solukhumbu district. Trek to this region offer breathtaking views of some of the world’s highest mountains and other beautiful smaller peaks, vast beautiful landscapes, Buddhist monasteries and charming Sherpa villages. In the Everest region trekkers have the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of the Himalayan people, their religion, customs and traditions. This region is inside the Sagarmatha National Park (1148 sq. km) which was established in 1976 and was added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979. Spectacular flora and fauna inhabit the park, including pine and birch trees and colorful rhododendron flowers which flourish in spring. It is not uncommon to spot mountain goats, musk deer and less frequently rare species of red panda and snow leopard.

Detailed Itinerary

You will be transferred to the hotel by one of our representatives. Welcome dinner at one of the traditional Nepali restaurants in Kathmandu.

Start our tour visiting a magnificent Buddhist stupa, Swoyambunath followed by a visit of Patan, a true open air museum with its pagodas, temples, and monasteries.

A scenic 40 minutes flight to Lukla (2865m) where we start our trek to Phakding which takes about 3 hours. We go through Cheplung (2700m), Thado Koshi and Ghat (2590m) villages. Phakding is a small charming place with some comfortable lodges.

The busy trail follows Dudh Koshi River and reaches Zamphuti where you can observe the beautiful view of Thamserku Peak then continue to Chomoa. We continue our trek again and climb to Monjo 2850m). Monjo is entry point of Sagarmatha National Park so we should complete our trekking permit and National park entry formalities before we enter the park. The trek again continues to Jorsale where we start our ascent to Namche Bazaar after crossing the large suspension bridge. Along the way you could get the first proper glimpse of Mt. Everest and other surrounding peaks. Namche bazaar is known as the gateway to Everest and has some modern facilities including some very good lodges, several monasteries, shops, bakeries, an army camp, Sagarmatha National Park quarter, museum etc.

Today we hike to nearby Everest View Hotel where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Mt. Everest and surrounding mountains. You may also be interested to visit Sherpa Museum which is a great place to learn Sherpa culture and the history of mountaineering in the region.

The trail begins with easy walk to sanasa then gradual ascends to Mongla danda, which offers great view of Ama Dablum and Thamserku. Then a long descend to the Phortse Tanga where we stop for the lunch. After lunch, a short hike to Phortse on gradual up hill.

Trek to Dingbuche takes about 7 hours. The view of the mountains though out the whole day is breathtaking, with the spectacular view of Mt. Amadablam (6856m) on the right and Mt. Everest (8848m) peeking out from Lotse wall and Mt. Lotse (8516m) itself standing in front of us being a giant wall. To make it even better most famous trekking peak Island peak stands right in the valley of Dingbuche.

We hike towards Chukkung valley (Island peak), which helps you to get more acclimatize for higher altitude. Adding to that Chukkung offers splendid view of the whole valley and some spectacular ice cliffs on the right.

A short walk to Dugla and in the afternoon go for acclimatization hike towards Dzongla valley. A great view of Cho lotse, Tabuche and Cho la pass.

We start our trek with gradual uphill walk, enjoying magnificent view of Cho lotse and Tabuche. The trail ascends to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier. We pass through the memorial area of Chukpilhara before reaching Lobuche. From the Lobuche, the sunset on Mt. Nuptse is particularly spectacular.

As we continue our journey to Everest Base Camp, view of mountains and surroundings get better and closer. The trail up to Gorakshep is rocky and windy but it offers great view of Pumori and Surrounding mountain peaks as well as the view of Everest Base Camp and Khumbu glacier. After having some rest in Gorakshep, we start hiking towards our final destination Everest Base Camp (5380m). It is strenuous walk to the Everest Base Camp but it is worth of every step. We spend about an hour at the Base Camp then retrace our steps back to Gorakshep.

Start our day early in the morning with a plan to get to the top of the Kalapatthar (5545m) before the sunrise, which is one of the finest viewpoints in Khumbu region. After enjoying the best view of the region, we hike back to our lodge at Gorakshep and have breakfast then start our trek back to Pheriche.

Leaving the mountains behind us we continue our trek by descending through Orsho, Shomare and Lower Pangboche villages to reach the suspension bridge over the Imja Khola. Then we climb a small hill to get to Tengboche.

We continue our trek from Tengboche with a steep descent through a stunning forest of rhododendron, blue pine and silver fir to Phunkithanga, a small settlement with a couple of tea houses. Then the trail ascends to Tashinga where we cross a suspension bridge and continue along an easy flat trail to Namche Bazaar. After having lunch in Namche, our trek continues steeply down to Dudh Koshi. The walk to Jorsale follows along the Dudh Koshi River.

On our final day of the trek, a fairly easy walk takes us back to Lukla. It is about 5 hour’s trek taking us through the villages of Phakding, Ghat, Thado Koshi, and Cheplung.

A scenic flight back to Kathmandu. The 40 minute flight to Kathmandu usually leaves early in the morning from Lukla.

We drive for an hour to visit an ancient city, Bhaktapur. It is one of the oldest cities of Kathmandu valley.

Climate

Climate:
From the eternal snow of the high peaks to the extensive tropical lowlands, Nepal has a wide variety of climates.

Spring: March to late May: In this season, Kathmandu is in full bloom, lots of different types of flowers can be seen at this time of the year.  Temperature is mild, end of the cold winter and approaching warm and hot summer.  Temperatures vary between 10 ° C to 28 ° C but can rise up to 30 ° C.  Between 2000 and 3000m, temperature rarely drop below 0 ° C. However, few frosts or snowfalls are possible in March above 4000 m.

The summer/monsoon period – It interrupts the majority of trekking from late June to late August. Some of the trekking regions “trans-Himalayan”, Dolpo and Mustang, however, remain protected from monsoon prevailing rest of the country. They are the only channels available in Nepal in the summer.

Autumn: mid September – mid December – Perfect temperature and weather for trekking. Brings cooler days, but clear skies. Above 3000 m altitude, temperatures can drop to -10 ° C at night.

In winter: mid-December – mid-February – Nights are generally cold, dry climate, Above 3000m, temperature drop down to 0 ° C to – 15 ° C at night, the days are often sunny.
