Kathmandu

Kathmandu, the heart and capital of Nepal, was born out of an ancient lake and centuries of legends. Today it is a fast growing metropolis that in many ways represents all that is Nepal. Its ancient streets, market squares, temples and the living cultural heritage stand as a testimony to its past glory. As the political and economic center of the country, Kathmandu Valley is a place where people from all over the country and indeed the world converge making it the most advanced urban centre in the nation.
Kathmandu is the only city that has direct international air links and is connected to all the domestic airports as well. Kathmandu valley is connected by two major highways that link it to the rest of the country. As a well facilitated city it serves as the perfect base to start an exciting trip to anywhere in Nepal, Tibet, Darjeeling, Sikkim and the rest of South Asia.
Bhadrapur

Bhadrapur is a quiet town located in the south eastern plains of Nepal. It can serve as the starting point for treks to the eastern Himalaya, most notably to the third highest peak in the world Mt. Kanchanjunga, and the Makalu Barun National Park. The town is 40 km away from the Indian border town of Siliguri that connects to Darjeeling, Sikkim, and other parts of North East India.
Bhairahawa

Located in the southern plains of mid west Nepal, Bhairahawa is less than 30 minutes ride from Lumbini the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam Buddha. As a town close to the border with India, Bhairahawa is fast growing as a trade centre.
Biratnagar

Biratnagar is the country’s largest industrial center fulfilling much of the country’s demands. Situated in the south eastern part of the country the city is home to different cultures and ethnic groups. Nepal’s largest river Sapta Koshi which supports the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is located less than two hours drive from Biratnagar. Some of the major hill towns like Dharan, Ilam, Damak, are also close by and connected by road to Biratnagar. As a border town Biratnagar is one of the main entry points to Nepal.
Bharatpur

Bharatpur in central Nepal is right next to the world famous Chitwan National Park. The city is about five hours drive Kathmandu and is one of the most well facilitated areas in the entire country boasting of several well equipped modern hospitals. The Chitwan National Park a former hunting ground of the royalties is the habitat of several endangered species such as the Royal Bengal Tiger, the One Horned Asian Rhinoceros and many more.
Dhangadhi

The town of Dhangadhi is one of the main hubs of far western Nepal. The city like others in the Tarai is slowly growing in size particularly due its proximity to other parts of far western Nepal and north India. The region is also famous for the Shuklaphanta Natural Park and the Ghoda Ghodi Water Shed Reserve about 30 km east of the town. The East West highway continues towards Mahendranagar in the west while the Karnali highway goes up towards the upper areas of far west Nepal.
Pokhara

Pokhara is definitely one of the most beautiful places in Nepal. Located in the western region, in the lap of the magnificent 6993m high Mt. Machhapuchre (Fishtail) and with Lake Phewa serenely shining right in the middle of the city, Pokhara attracts thousands of tourists every year. The seven big and small lakes in the vicinity also give the name Lake City to Pokhara and serves to make it one of the most idyllic tourist destinations in Nepal. As the launching point for the world famous Annapurna Circuit trek and numerous white water rafting expeditions, Pokhara is a magnet for the adventurous.
Simara

The Simara Airport is 30 minutes drive from the bustling industrial and commercial city of Birgunj in the central Tarai. As one of Nepal’s oldest cities Birgunj is strategically located making it a frequent destination for business travelers, executives of foreign projects and agencies, overland tourists, pilgrims and other visitors. The cities importance as a strategic trade and transit junction between Nepal and the world beyond is signified by the dry port constructed there recently.
Nepalgunj
Temperature: 30° to 42° Celsius (Summer) / 6° to 24° Celsius (Winter)

Located in the south west of the country, Nepalgunj is the gateway to the Wild West. As with many of the towns in the Tarai, Nepalgunj is growing as a commercial hub. The Indian city of Luck now is only five hours drive from Nepalgunj. It is also the starting point to treks that head towards the far west and north-west.
Janakpur

Named after the legendary King Janak of the Hindu epic Ramayana, Janakpur was the capital of the ancient Indian kingdom of Mithila. King Janak was the father of Sita, the wife of the Hindu god Rama, heroine of the great epic. Located in the eastern Tarai, Janakpur attracts thousands of Hindu pilgrims every year to its Ram Janaki Temple. As the center of a great civilization, Janakpur is also famous for the now revived ancient Mithila art and craft.
Tumlingtar
The temperature ranges from 34-35°C to 8°C to 10°C from summer to winter.
Tumlingtar is a region and a city, in Eastern Nepal, between Arun river and Sabha River in Kosi Zone. It is also the deepest valley and biggest Tar (Plain land near the hill) of Nepal. It is the only source to go to Makalu peak via airways. The area is also known for the temple of Hindu goddess, Manakamana, known as Manakamana of Tumlingtar, situated 2.5 km north from Tumlingtar Airport.
Surkhet
The temperature ranges from 5°C to 38°C from summer to winter.
Surkhet is a district in the Bheri Zone of the Mid-Western Development Region of Nepal. Birendranagar is the administrative headquarter of Surkhet as well as the whole Mid-Western Development Region. Surkhet District lies within the Surkhet Valley, which is about 50 km² in size, and is approximately 400 kilometers west of the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu.
Phaplu

Phaplu is in the Eastern district of Solu-Khumbu, famous for its Sherpas. This village of 5,500 is in a hilly region located 30 minutes east of Kathmandu by air.
Lukla
Temperature: 7° to 17° Celsius (Summer) / -6° to 6° Celsius (Winter)

Lukla is the place where the majority of the visitors make their bumpy but spectacular landing half-way up a mountain side. Lukla is a small Sherpa village perched at 2,850m above sea level literally nested on a shelf getting out over the Dudh Koshi, Lukla is the arrival gateway to the Khumbu region and a popular starting point for many treks into the shadow of Mt. Everest.
Lukla has grown rapidly with the introduction of its airstrip, which has made the Everest region accessible to many people, not just mountaineers. Once a tiny farming community, Lukla is now a large trekkers town, with numerous accommodation options (most fairly simple), many shops; selling everything from batteries and soap to yak hair gloves and knock-off North Face jackets, and even a couple of internet cafes.
Jomsom
Temperature: 6° to 17° Celsius (Summer) / -7° to 6° Celsius (Winter)
Flight Duration: 25 minutes from Pokhara
Jomsom, (2,713m) is important for its strategic position along the popular Around Annapurna (Circuit) Trek route. It is also the starting point for many interesting treks like the Kagbeni, Marpha, Muktinath and Mustang treks. The Jomsom Trek is known for splendid mountain views and some of the best trekking hotels are found on this route.
Jomsom is the capital and administration headquarters of Mustang district, which stretches from the Tibetan border to Ghasa along the Kali Gandaki river. The deepest gorge in the world lies here along the Kali Gandaki as the river passes between two eight thousanders, Mt Annapurna and Mt Dhaulagiri.
From Jomsom you can enjoy the views of the Nilgiri peaks as well as Dhaulagiri, the sixth highest mountain in the world. Most of the hotels, along this trek route, are run by people of the Thakali tribes. They are mostly found in the mountainous regions between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.
Bajhang
Bajhang district is a part of Seti Zone. The district, with Chainpur as its district headquarters, covers an area of 3,422 sq km and has a population (2001) of 167,026. Bajhang is the only access for the air transportation, connecting peoples from all the far-western regions to the low lands.
Dang
Dang airport is situated in Rapti zone of Nepal and is at an elevation of 2,100 feet above the sea level and is situated at the south of the city of Tulsipur. Dang Airport serves as an access to five different district Head-quarters in that regions. Besides Dang district, it is the regional hub for the district of Salyan, Rukum, Rolpa, Pyuthan and Argha khachi. This is one of the oldest Airport in Nepal. It has been in existence from the time of DC-3 aircraft operation in Nepal.
Simikot
Simikot airport is at an elevation of 9400 ft and about 38 minutes of flight from Nepalgunj and it is the western most airstrip in Nepal. The Karnali river flows all the way from simikot to the terai region of Nepalgunj. High mountain lives, green river valley, sheep and yaks heard, snow-caped mountains, this is really where one can view nature at its purest form.
Pilgrims from Nepal trek from Simikot through the simikot – Hilsa routes over the Himalayan region to cross over to Kailash and Mansarovar. Access to Tibet from Simikot is the shortest and the most practical for travelers in every aspect from acclimatization to cultural endowment.
Chaurjhari
Chaurjhari is located in the North-west of Nepal in Rukum district. This air-field was built for the ancient town of Jajarkot. Jajarkot is recognized as one of the ancient kingdoms of Nepal. The airport lies just on the bank of the river Bheri. It serves as a commercial center for the eastern region of Karnali Zone.
